Where to even begin with this one.
When Carlene called me for maternity photos, I wondered where the time went. How did we get here so fast? She was barely a teenager, a lover of volleyball, an outgoing happy girl just yesterday, I swear. As I photographed her and Chris together that first time, with all of this spinning around in my head, she was absolutely glowing and so excited for this next step of becoming a mom. By the end of the session, it was clear that this little girl has grown up right before my eyes.
Little Carter was born, and I had the opportunity to photograph all three of them as a family. This time, I watched Carlene and Chris’ joy, their hearts exploding with love for their little man, and their true partnership in parenting.
They have since become partners in business – part owning and running Pizza Hut in Fort McMurray. And, on a Spring(ish) day in Canmore, surrounded by their families and friends, and the beautiful Rocky Mountains, they became partners in life.
Carlene always dreamed of having an outdoor mountain wedding. Although the forecast was not looking favourable, the great folks at the Canmore Coast Hotel were ready and willing to accommodate at a moments notice. The weather was windy and the skies were threatening snow, but just a few hours before the ceremony the sun peeked out and the staff quickly set the stage for a mountain ceremony, just as Carlene dreamed it would be.
One of my favourite parts of the ceremony is watching the groom reaction as his bride walks down the aisle. Chris melted the hearts of everyone with his reaction to, not only his bride, but also his son. Carter was met with kisses and words of encouragement for a job well done, and when Carlene met them Chris didn’t waste a second to tell her how beautiful she looked.
Sounds like a dream, right? It was even better.
These two are very deserving. They are hard working, family oriented, and warm hearted people. It’s been not only a pleasure to watch this girl grow into a beautiful woman, but also an absolute honour to capture these precious days in both of their lives.
