Oh my gosh, I have so much to say about this wedding! First of all, I have to admit, I was nervous to shoot in Las Vegas with so many people in one little space. Here, in Fort McMurray we enjoy a lot of space and rarely have to deal with strangers in our shots (besides the odd quad coming through the trails or family enjoying a big, beautiful green space). At the same time, though, I was over the moon excited to shoot this Harley Davidson loving, leather and denim wearing, beautiful couple in a cityscape!
Amid the craziness that is Las Vegas, Stevee and Erica, of Stevee Danielle Hair & Makeup met us at the MGM Grand to glam up our relaxed bride before getting into her absolutely gorgeous blush dress (she bought it right here in Fort McMurray at Timeless Bridal Boutique!). Meanwhile, across the street at the Tropicana the guys were laid back, cracking jokes while getting into their jeans and Harley Davidson shirts.
We took a super stretched Ford 450 to the ceremony. Unfortunately, I wasn’t permitted to take photos at the ceremony due to exclusive rights to the house photographer – which is totally understandable, and she was fantastic. She even offered formal location suggestions, one of which was “downtown”. We had no idea “downtown” meant Freemont Street, and were delighted when the limo driver dropped us off outside of 4 Queens….AMAZING!
It was 40 degrees celsius…even the locals were complaining about the heat. We worked fast and then returned to the air conditioned MGM Grand for dinner with Lorrie and Martin’s closest friends and family at Crush, an urban style restaurant decorated with dark woods and a gray burlap-style fabric on the wall (so awesome!) . The menu was carefully planned, made up of Lorrie and Martin’s favourite comfort foods. Oh, and that cake. The cake was absolutely beautiful (and delicious) and colour-matched to Lorrie’s dress. Not one detail was overlooked. This wedding was no doubt a reflection of them. My favourite kind of wedding!
After dinner Lorrie, Martin and I ventured off for night time photos, along with Tonya and Sheldon (best man and maid of honour, doubling as my wonderful and lovely assistants) . I announced to them that I had found a beautiful location the night before and was super excited to bring them there. Turns out, it was at Aria, their favourite hotel in Vegas. I can’t tell you how perfectly everything turned out, planned and unplanned. A day that was indeed meant to be.
Lorrie and Martin, thank you so much for choosing me to come along with you. It truly was a perfect day, in a fun location with some of the craziest, funniest and sweetest people I’ve ever met. xo
