If you ask Melonie how she would describe her wedding theme, she would tell you it was “Cinderella goes to the pub”.
She struggled with where to hold the reception, having a strong desire to host a party where everyone would feel like celebrating without the feeling of formality. She struggled with her dress – should she get the slinky, sexy dress with the satiny touch that Cranley loves so much; Or, the champagne, flowing layered dress to compliment his Fireman’s ceremonial uniform? What did she do? She opted for a reception at Paddy McSwiggin’s pub, beautifully decorated by Lisa and Judy, of A Special Occassion; And, she bought both dresses!
There were two things she was sure about: Having lived most of her life in Fort McMurray, she wanted everything to be local, local, local (find the list of her awesome Fort McMurray vendors below!); And, most importantly, she had no doubt that Cranley is the man she will spend the rest of her life with, and she was so excited to become his wife.
Melonie and Cranley shared the same group of friends for years here in Fort McMurray, but they had never met, and their friends assumed that they had. Fate took over, and the two were introduced three years ago. They went on their first date to the car show at Canadian Tire where Cranley showed off his 1980’s Camaro with pride, but I’m sure he was even more proud of the gal on his arm! That night the radio host gave them an award for being the cutest couple. Amazing, right? But, it gets better…. The following year they go to the car show once again, and once again the radio host gives them an award for the cutest couple at the show. Fate, you are a funny, fantastic thing.
Cranley brought four beautiful children into the relationship, she brought one. She told me she had always dreamed of having a big family. She now felt complete. Those children love these two and each other. As their parents said their vows, they cried. As the oldest two toasted their parents, we all cried. As “We Are Family” played they danced and celebrated together. This family is truly complete.
Dang. I’m teary eyed now….I’ll just let these do the talking, I’ve said too much anyway.
I absolutely love the photo below that my wonderful second shooter, Crystal, shot. My perspective is above (a few minutes later). I love how the two compliment each other so well 🙂
Oh Melonie, what do I say? I’m so happy you chose me to be your photographer. I’m so happy to be a small part of something so incredibly special, something that fate surely had laid out for you, Cranley and your beautiful family. You all have undeniably beautiful spirits and I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to spend time with you all. xo
