I will never forget the day this beauty contacted me, asking if I would be willing to document her journey. I was in tears as I read her message about her mastectomy and her excitement to feel sexy again. Then I met her. Super sweet, happy and smiling. I was completely inspired. She allowed me to share the images from her first session with me (see them here). A brave gesture that she hoped would inspire other women dealing with breast cancer. It most certainly did, hitting 10,000 people on the internet in just one hour.
By the time the blog post hit the internet, Miss S was having her first reconstructive surgery, which she said was more painful than the mastectomy itself. She was recovering from the surgery as she read the amazing comments and stories left by others who have experienced or were experiencing the same.
One year and a tough road later, she has a new boob and scars that are a true representation of her strength and most importantly, she is healthy for her loving husband (who convinced her to document this time in her life), her two girls and herself.
Such a wonderful, brave woman. I am truly so blessed to have met her, hear her story, and capture her beautiful soul and body.
